The Annual Report of the Congregation and the revised SOV Constitution are available as downloadable .pdf files below.

Schedule for January 28:

Shortened Worship (9:30-10 a.m.)

Annual Meeting of the Congregation (10-10:45 a.m.)

The meeting will be held in the sanctuary and begins immediately following worship Sunday, January 28. Because of the potential for icy roads, we are including a Zoom option for the meeting. If you worship on Zoom, you can stay on Zoom for the meeting. There will not be a brunch, but coffee fellowship will happen at about 10:45 a.m. (after the meeting).

Feel free to share thoughts or concerns to be brought up at the meeting via email prior to the meeting. sovjuneau@gmail.com

Please review our values before the meeting:

*We are centered on Christ.

*The community around Christ can be messy.

*We are beloved children of God who fall short of the glory of God and gather in communion for healing, mercy, and renewal.

*We gather to praise God and to explore together God’s will for our lives as revealed in the Holy Scriptures and inspired by the Holy Spirit.

* We are sent into the world to use the gifts God has given us.

Constitutional Changes—There are some ELCA recommended constitutional changes that we need to approve. They will be available before the meeting. Thank you Dan Corson for your work on those.

The two priorities for this last year were:

  • Expand Feeding Ministries: We are excited to announce that SOV Food Truck ministry received $30,000 (over three years) from ELCA domestic hunger to work with the other congregations along Loop Road and the Salvation Army food truck to serve meals to the Cinema Drive area. This has been on our dream list for a while so it is exciting to see it coming to fruition.
  • Develop a Master Facility Plan: Jeff Jenkins, Linda Thompson, Theresa Ross, Elfrida Nord, Dan Corson, Chuck Orsborn, Jim Wilson, and Steve Landvik worked with a landscape architect to develop a long range plan for our property. The driveway has now been moved and the playground equipment has been ordered and paid for. Our next priorities are drainage and getting a bid for the columbarium. We are taking it step by step, but we have a vision we are working toward. Misuri Smyth said we should call the new driveway “Landvik Lane” and it is impossible to overstate the impact Steve had on the building and vision for our community.
